Search Engine Optimization

Google will index your website utilizing the information below. These items should be given careful consideration and provide accurate and concise information about your site pages. Keywords are no longer used, see the link below for "Meta tags that Google understands".

When the site goes live, and the Google Analytics account is setup, Google will come in and index the website. Once Google indexes the website, to help potential visitors find your website in the Internet, there is no way that we can push Google to come back and re-index your site. We have no control or influence when Google will return to reindex the website Re-indexing of the website is done on their schedule, not ours. This could mean that the site will not be indexed in the best possible manner, and visitors will not be able to find your site as easily as they possible could. Therefore it is important to have all of the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) done before we go live.

General site title

This is what appears for the title of your site when the user is on the homepage. Example:

<title>training-int.hopechannel.de: Hope Channel Training International | Christian Television</title>

A better example would be:
<title>Hope Channel Deutsch | christliches Fernsehen und Radio</title>

  • Here is a clear title to the site, separated by a pipe character (“|”),  from a short description
  • Should be in the proper language for the country
  • The site title will be setup by Stimme der Hoffnung, please let us know what you would like to use.

Individual page titles

  • The title for each page in the Pagetree should clearly indicate what the page contains.
  • Page titles should be in the proper language, which people in your country will use to search. Example, do not use English page titles, if the people are searching in Romanian.

Homepage & Individual page descriptions

This field provides an area to enter a short description about the page contents. In some situations this description is used as a part of the snippet shown in the search engine results. It is very important to set this up on the homepage.

Follow these steps to add this text:

  1. Log into the TYPO3 backend.
  2. In the left column, click on the Page module.
  3. In the center column, click on the homepage (top page with a globe).
  4. When the page shows in the right column, click on the page edit icon (pencil & paper), to open the page for editing.
  5. Click on the Metadata tab.
  6. Look under the heading “Meta Tags” and locate the Description field.
  7. Enter the short text, one or two sentenences into the Description field.
  8. Save the changes.
  9. Refresh the homepage in a browser, and then review the source code in the front end to make sure the information has been updated.
  10. Look for this tag in the page source code: <meta name="description" content="<your description here>" />
  11. Save and close the page for editing.
  12. Click on other website pages to fill in the descripton for them. Time permitting.

When time permits, it would be good for all pages on the website to have this information available as well. For pages which are "Hidden in Menu" this is usually not required. Here meaning pages such as the Episode or Show Detail pages, where the visitor does not go directly to the page.
